Nothing Says It Like

Riley Andrew helping with Maddy Jean napping

~ ~ ~ ~
Last night, I finally got around to putting
a few ornaments on the Holiday tree.
The box that had them was being warmed by Meredith Ann.
She had found the box early on.
By mistake it now seems, I'd put a blanket on top of it.
That spells napville around here.
Thus, every time I looked at the box,
someone who blogs on Mondays,
was napping or bathing or just looking cute.

So, when the alert went off that she had
vacated her box, I went to work.
Course she came back in the middle.
Looked at her box with a "what are you doing"
smirk and waited by the fireplace til I was done.

I put only half of the ornaments on the tree.
Thought I could put the rest on later.
There was a cat waiting.
There was a movie.
There was a couch.

I put the blanket back on the box.
Only it wasn't as full,
so when she napped, it sank a bit.
It's an old box that has held the ornaments for years.

I sat there, looking at the unfinished tree,
the cat on her box,
the Holiday candles burning away,
 the Christmas movie playing.
the dogs on the couch,
the cat napping on his scratching post,
the winter brew in my cup
and thought that it doesn't get much better.
This is what my life is about.
 Peace. Purrs. Dogs dreaming.
The movie was a nothing says the Holidays
and putting a tree together kind,
The Fugitive.
Yes, Tommy Lee Jones and Harrison Ford in the same movie.
Both looking fabulous and both making my purrfect evening.

While I'm over here,
enjoying my peaceful life and the twinkle
of my tree and watching an old movie,
 I hope that your Holidays
are as peaceful and full of purrs as mine.

Thankful Thursday

Sedona
I was thinking early this morning about things.
You know how that happens.
 Early noise wakes you.
Too early to get up but your mind starts to go.
I always say a mini prayer.
 My own version.
That starts the day.
Nothing big just what I'm thinking.
(I grew up going to church six days out of seven.)
I always wish for good health for my family.
I go through the list.
Hoping that Riley eats more.
That Bella keeps going on like she has been.
That Maddy Jean keeps being puppylike
 and never grows old.
I hope for the big four cats to lose a bit of weight.
That Meredith Ann gets brave.
That the three humans in the group stay healthy.
That the stress in their lives eases a bit.
I then think of myself.
Hoping that today is a good day for me.
(That I am not in a lot of pain.
 That I get things done.
That the peace I look for visits.)
I do my mini prayer that I learned as a child.
I'm just saying it to myself
in the hope that it will happen.
The good things for those around me.
A peaceful path.
I wish for that a lot.
Peace.
Since I woke up five years ago from my coma,
I've felt like I was on borrowed time.
Long story short ... I was not supposed to be here.
I have felt great peace the last month or so.
Making big decisions that were hard.
I think they have made me calmer.
Knowing that I did what was right.
Anyway, I thought I'd tell you about this morning.
That for just a bit I was scared.
For what could happen.
My Purr Gang is getting older.
I know that Bella is in a holding pattern
 that will soon end.
Maddy Jean is only two years younger.
I kind of want things to freeze in motion.
I'll take the pain of today and make it be good.
And, that is what I was thinking about today on
Thankful Thursday.
I am so very Thankful for all that I have.
I'm just a bit scared for when it may change.

On This Frozen Day

It's cold !!!
The snow sort of melted.
The hail later made it white again.
The next hail storm really made it white.
This morning, I have frozen hail balls on my porch.
In the front yard, even the bird feeder is frozen.
I asked Riley,
who was looking for his bird tv channel,
where he thinks the birds go when it's this cold.
He told me he'd nap on it and get back to me.

The moving van is being picked up at four.
Taking it to my new place on Saturday.
It's not really new, we've owned it for a few years.
(bank does but you know what I mean)
After that, I will be ready to move in
with the Purr & Fur Gang.

Yesterday, I had a bit of a moment.
Thought about my new adventure.
The leaving here after all this time.
The what am I doing and where am I going kind.
I know it's the right thing.
I hope it brings me peace.
I need that so very much.
I'll still come back to this home.
When there's this or that that I need to be part of.
Mr. Boatman and I have agreed
that we are just living apart.
 Not getting divorced.
Isn't that what everyone says when they do this ?
~ ~ ~
So, on this frozen day,
 I start my new life.
If I shed a few tears in my coffee,
I'm sure no one will mind.

Thoughts On A Rainy Tuesday

I love these.
That's one thing I do know.
My life has had ups and downs.
Been a bumping road to say the least.
I'm harder than I ever thought I'd be.
My levels of forgiveness are less.
I search for peace and quiet.
I don't know the road in front of me.
Just hope that it's a quiet one.
Maybe I will find myself again.
It seems to have been lost along the way.
Always being this and that and now what.
As I figure this out, I will have my gang with me.
If I go, so do they.
Boxes are packed.
Moving van is coming this weekend.
I will miss what I have known.
I will start new.
After all I am a survivor.
I think life is just too much fun.
I don't have the answers for anything.
I will figure things out as I go.

Saturday Fog

Fog on a Saturday Meowning
This is what it looked like last
Saturday Meowning
at our vacation place
See why I saved forever
to get a place like this ?
Peace ...

It's quiet here ...

Happy New Year's Eve
I am at our beach house
A car ride with five cats and two dogs
Is always fun
At least it's not dull
It's quiet here
Peaceful
Which is what my soul needs
Plan on going out to dinner
Maybe a movie
Right now I'm having my
MEOWning Coffee
While looking at the drops fall
From the cloudy sky

May 2010 be good to all of you

Peace Love & Joy ...

I hope for that ....

It's the Sunday after a very relaxing T Day weekend.
So nice to get away and be in the quiet world.
Peace is not enough to explain the being of this place.
The dream is to someday live there.
We took Meredith & Jasmine with us.
Meredith had a great time exploring.
She really is a sweet cat.
Likes to jump though.
Maybe that's why she has nine lives.

I came back with some new energy.
Hope to clean up this old messy house.
The yard though I will have to leave to
Mr. Boatman and his leaf eater  machine.

I am so thankful for what I have.
I say a silent prayer ... my version ... each day.
For those who are in need ..
Of  Hope, Peace, and Health

Lately, so many have had health problems
Several cats have past away or gotten lost
I wish there was a reason
I hope for that
For Peace

So, on this Sunday in the wet woods
Surrounded by my six Purrfect Fur Friends
I am content knowing that I tried the best I could

And, isn't that what we are all doing ...

Wet Monday Meowning RANT

It's a wet Monday Meowning. Supposed to rain every day this week. Won't that be fun?

I tried fixing his eyes but it just made him look more like an alien orange kitty.

Baby Riley is sitting on the printer watching bird tv. It's ok today but not like yesterday. I posted about the new birds that were visiting us. Absolutely gorgeous. I haven't seen them before. We usually get chickadees, blue jays, woodpeckers, and a bunch of other birdies that I don't know their names. I found a site where you can put in the color of the bird and you get pages of birds with pictures. That's how I found the bird yesterday. I put in orange and wa la there it was. Today's bird though I could not find. It's grey and white ... I think it's in the sparrow or wren family but it's picture did not come up. I'll have to keep looking. I still haven't found that bird book. I'll probably find it when I'm too old to remember why I was looking for it.

The cherry trees down my driveway have been hanging low and when I drive by I get pink flowers all over my car. ( I'm glad I took the photos last week cause I was right and the rain has made the petals fall.) It's like I have to bend over to get out my driveway. One time I stopped and looked out my rooftop window ... really pretty ... looking at the blossoms from that angle. I'll do that when I'm in the school parking lot, waiting for my son to grace me with his presence. I'll be looking at the clouds and sky. I think I told you how I love the sky. Everything about it fascinates me. Wind, no wind, shapes ..

I'm always in search of peace. Last week it went away from my house with a swift kick. Like someone told it to go away and never come near us again. One of those weeks. Only it's one of those weeks that's going to follow us around for years. Maybe forever. I won't go into details now, maybe later, but our world has kind of gotten shaken and stirred and thrown back. It's a feeling of 'what the hell just happened'. We are still standing and it's like it didn't happen but it did. I'm mad as hell and I wish I didn't have to take it anymore but we do.

So, you add what happened last week with all that goes on normally ... or not so normal ... around my house and well, that trying to find peace ... I don't think it exists. I might try to find it again but for now I'm just going to keep going. One day at a time. One step at a time ... and that's funny cause I had to get my cane out this weekend ... that's a different story isn't it.

Life just keeps throwing 'stuff' and that's not the word I want to use but it's only a Monday meowning and I'm having coffee not a whiskey. The last couple of years my life, which wasn't easy in the first place, has had so much 'weird, never happens to anyone, you only read about that happening to people, that couldn't happen more than once, how many things could go wrong, oh, don't ask cause more will happen, everyone feels sorry for us, more went wrong, of course you thought surviving a coma was going to be the worst thing that happened to you, what a silly that was just the beginning, wasn't that enough, I could go on and on, and let's add what happened last week' odd 'stuff' tossed at me. I think it's someone else's turn ... I try to laugh about it but that doesn't seem to be helping.

Oh and let's not forget the crazy lady at the grocery store yesterday who went ballistic cause I told the store employee that someone had spilled lots of flourish like powder on the floor. Me being the good citizen and not wanting anyone to fall, went over and tried to tell the store person about the spill but was verbally attacked by the spoiled rotten bitchy lady ... and she really isn't a lady ... who was insulted that I bothered her time with the grocery lady. She literally bit my head off for telling the grocery lady while she was discussing cakes or something. I looked at her and told her I really didn't want anyone to fall. Literally, I live in a gang area or something ... or just a bitchy lady area ... cause I walked away and thought ... what was that ... never in my 50 odd years have I been attacked at a grocery store for being a good person ... of course the grocery lady didn't say a word .. I think she was scared by the bitchy cake lady. I went home unloaded my groceries and had a well deserved beer. It was one of those situations where you'd like to go back and just shake the girl ... cause a young lady wouldn't act that way ... tell her mother, take away her precious cake, make her walk home and think about what she just did, etc ... but, you know she didn't think a thing about what happened cause she's a bitchy young girl and will always act that way. Seriously ... she didn't care that someone might fall ...

And, with that ... I feel better now ... cause the world seems to be out to get me and I won't let it ... I'm that kind of old cat lady.

Oh the cats are all fine ... napping away ...

You all have a nice day now and be glad you don't shop at my grocery store ... it's dangerous.

For Today

It’s a semi cloudy Saturday morning.

The birds are singing.

Ashton is snoozing on his scratching post.

I’m having coffee in my “I survived” cup.

I hear Baby Kitty going up the stairs
.
His bell gives him away.

The boys, husband and son, are out driving.

Son has his permit and Husband takes him out early in the mornings when there aren’t too many cars.

This past week I’ve been kind of quiet.

Not sure why.

I sat on the back porch with my dogs.

Read my book.

Enjoyed the sounds of my woods.

Since my coma, I have a peace about me.

I have it and I need it.

I get frustrated with people.

What they do and what they say.

I just don’t have the time or the willingness to put up with them.

I don’t think I did before but I really don’t now.

It’s like I know something that they just don’t get.

Almost like they never will.

I was in my coma for over a week.

I don’t remember any of that time.

I have a feeling of Peace and I am searching for that in my life.

So, some weeks I just don’t feel like leaving my safe haven that I’ve made for myself.

My world of purrballs and birds.

Maybe next week, I’ll venture out into the crazy noisy world.

Maybe next week, I’ll be able to handle the bumps and wildness out there.

For today, I’m having coffee with my dogs and cats.

For today, I’m enjoying the sounds of birds and planes in the sky.

For today, I’m making plans to work on projects for this old house.

For today, I’m listening to what my mind is telling me I need.

I hope you all enjoy this Purrfect Saturday,
There comes a time in your life when you walk away from all of the drama and the people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for those who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living.
