Young, Tired, Crazy and Old

I am having a blueberry muffin and coffee.
This is a yum kind of start to my morning.
Normally, I don't eat breakfast
but I am trying to boost
my ever slow metabolism.
It seems to have stopped
and that's not good.
I have heart troubles.
Have been on meds for almost two years.
The second med which I started last July
has done a real number on me.
I've gained more than thirty pounds
 and basically my mean
old metabolism went away.

I tried to stop taking it.
My heart let me know that I could not.
Thus, I started it again.
No more headaches.
No more dizzyness.
I can drive.
I can stand up without passing out.
(fun times)

Only the med makes me all bloated.
You know that feeling.
Yuck.

I'm still trying to figure something out.
Til I do, it's two pills
for the ever mean heart.

The Purr and Fur Gang
is with me at our beach place.
No, they don't get to relax
outside like this.
Our beach is a rocky one.
Sand dollars and oysters.
On an inlet.
The tide is either out or
it's a big lake.

They do get to go out on the deck though.
Which is purrfect for them.
They can't get off of it.
They nap and relax
but because they are indoor cats
they tend to come in after a while.
This is a photo of Maddy Jean and Jodie.
Was taken two years ago when Jodie was a baby.
Maddy is doing ok.
She isn't in a hurry.
She naps a lot.
We are taking it day by day.
Normal life over here.

A young dog, a very tired old dog,
five crazy cats and a very old cat lady.

That's our update.
Never a dull moment.
That is for sure.

Enjoy your weekend.
Remember to dance.

Foggy Friday

Ashton Rosevelt

~ ~ ~
It's been another Fall week in my woods.
Lots of fog in the mornings.
Even in the afternoons.
The leaves are everywhere.
Course being in my woods,
that's a given.

The colors are marvelous to enjoy.
I look out my back window
and that big tree
is just waiting to fly.

(by fly, I mean when
the leaves swirl around
in the air on the way
down to my yard)
All those leaves.
All those colors.
My yard really is amazing.

I was busy this week.
Doing  phone calls
and some appointments.

It was time to stop pretending
and be an adult. So, I was.

Got into my heart specialist.
I'm doing fine.
I go back in three months.
Love those ekg's.

I did dance while waiting
in my heart specialists office.

He was running late
and I'm not one for
just sitting on those chairs
and waiting. Nope, not me.

After that, I went to the imaging
department for a few rays.

My big test is next week.
Not a terrible one
but not an easy one either.
It's nuclear.
I'll say that much.

The week after that,
I get into my kidney Doctor.
I'll find out if I can keep
this lovely kidney of mine.

~ ~ ~

The purr and fur gang
have been enjoying
the warmth of a fire
or the heater vent.

It sure got cold here fast.
Been in the thirty's every day.
Warms up but still
I am not ready for this
cold stuff.

And, that is
about it for
my part of the woods.

Hope you have a fabulous
weekend and remember
to dance.

Heart Burn

It's a noisy Tuesday meowning.
The garbage and recycling trucks wake those who aren't up yet.
And, who would that be .. my kids.
I hear movement.

It's been one week since my heart surgery.
One week of very odd.
My 'simple procedure' did not work.
At least, everyone involved thinks.

After fours hours of being slightly sedated,
which means I felt everything,
I was taken back to my room.

Yes, I felt all the things they did to me.
Even the burning of my heart.
That's a good one.
Check that off of my 'to do' list.

The results were that they only found one spot.
My heart rate still hits 194 and bounces all around.
Not a success.
The Dr. says he wants to do it again.
Only this time with no medication.
Are you serious.
No way.

This week, I've been napping.
It's the cat in me.
Sitting in chairs and passing out.
Seeing white spots .. literally.

Yesterday, I sat in the back yard.
My son set up my chair and book.
All I did was walk to it.
And, I did do that without having to hold on to anything.
No sitting on the floor, deck or lawn, on the way.

I am improving.

Talked to the nurse yesterday.
She said it can take a month to be better.
And, as she said,
I did have my heart burned.

Due to all of this,
I had to move back to my house in the woods.
(I had been told this was a simple procedure
and that I'd be good to go in a day or two.)
Cats aren't too happy with me.
They get to go out on the deck at the beach place.

Oh well, maybe next Summer.

My Heart Cat

This is my Lilly Ann.
She was my very feral Lynx Point Siamese.
She was my heart kitty.
She loved only me.
She past away a few years ago
but is and always will be in my heart.

~ ~ ~
I had my heart surgery yesterday.
It took a bit over four hours.
I went home very late yesterday evening.

It did not work.
My heart still beats as high as 194.
My Dr. sat in my rooming
looking at my heart monitor
for half an hour.

He sent me home.
Said his nurse would be calling me.
He said, if his team was still there,
he'd have taken me back
in for more surgery.

Thus, I will have to do this again.
This time with no pain medication.
As he feels, that is why he couldn't find the cause.

Today, I am very tired.
Feel like my heart was in a punching match.
I've been dizzy most of the day.

At least I tried.
He tried.
What else can anyone do ?

I was supposed to feel better.
Instead, I am worse.
I hope it's just all the meds they shot into me.

And, tomorrow I expect to wake up
and be refreshed.

One can hope.

Remember to pet those purr and fur balls from me.

Mid Late Thoughts

~ Many things ~

I'm still at the beach. It's very quiet here. Just me and the Purr and Fur Gang. Jodie has been having too much fun barking at the Deer, Seagulls, Eagles, dogs, people walking on the beach, boats in the water. You name it and she's barked at it. I remind her not to do it by showing her the bird house or the spray bottle. My girl will always be a talker. She's like me. Maddy Jean is just enjoying the Summer. Relaxing like an old Golden should while watching her sister be silly.

My days are spent reading and taking the girls outside. This place was kind of built weird. From what we heard, there was a big nasty divorce in the middle of building this home. It's a grand place but has so many odd things about it. One being that there is no stairs to the back yard. The owners had the steps riped off the deck. We even have boards hanging off into the unknown. Anyway, this means that I have to go down two flights of steps and go through the basement, to let the girls go outside. I don't mind a few steps but every time I let them out it's an ordeal. So, many times we make an afternoon of it. I get a bag ready with my book, reading glasses, something to drink, bottle opener, chap stick, a few dog bones and whatever else I've thought of.

I sit by the water and read my book. Sometimes we are down there for hours and other times just twenty minutes. Either way, the girls get to play. Lately, with the hot days we've been having, we go back up the lawn and I sit on this big rock. How or why it's there I don't know but it makes a good seat. I can still see the water and sunsets but usually it's in the shade. I watch the girls play or rather I watch Maddy Jean bark at Jodie and Jodie does her herding routine. It's quite entertaining. After a while, I go into the basement and ask if they are ready. Most times, Maddy Jean is and Jodie will come in too. Then up those stairs we go. Maddy Jean and I are the ones who stop and look at them before we go up. She and I are getting older and wish it was two or three steps instead of what it is.

On Monday, I'm going back into town. Leaving the Purr Gang here in the air conditioning. I have my heart surgery done on Tuesday. It's supposed to be a day surgery. I wish. I hope. My surgeries with my kidney were supposed to be day too but with my ever fast and low beating heart, I went up to the cardiac care unit. Maybe this time, they will fix me and I'll go home like I should. I am having an ablation and I'm told I will be a wake. They want to talk to me off and on. Supposed to take two to three hours depending. Oh, do I know how to have fun or what.

When I'm done, I hope to be able to get back to the beach to be with the Purr Gang. I don't like to leave them for longer than a few days. Kind of like when you go camping on a weekend. My Purr Gang won't even miss me. Jasmine will but the boys just nap in the sun and cool off with the air conditioning. Yes, I am spoiling them.

I'm also in a mid later life crisis. I know I'm a bit late on this but I was busy raising kids and being sick. I wanted so much when I was young. Now, that I'm old I have all that I wanted. (I grew up very poor and wanted a small house with flowers and cats and dogs.) It's the emotional things that I didn't get right. I still don't have that figured out. I try. Oh, you can't say that I don't try. I'm just a bit sad right now. This will pass. I know that next week or after, I will be happy as can be. It's just that I'm so tired of the constant struggles I have. One being with my daughter. The fact that I've done all I can and still it won't get better. I have let her go. Only she still lives with me. At my other house. She's looking for work but until then she'll be with me. Thus, I can't move on til she has. All emotional stuff. I can't fight anymore. I just don't have it in me. So, until she is gone and on her own, I will have this going on. I'm too old for this.

So, On Tuesday my heart gets fixed. I hope for great things. Like enjoying the rest of the Summer. I have a camping trip to Kalaloch planned. With this nice weather, I've imagined being there. Only it will probably rain, like it always does when I go camping. Oh well, at least it will be on the Ocean.

And, there you go.
My thoughts on Thursday.

Foggy

It's a very foggy morning in my woods.
Supposed to clear up later so that the blue shows.

Heart day at my place was so so.
Nothing special at all.
Just a normal day in the woods.

I did get a bouquet of flowers the day before.
Mr. Boatman had gone to the Farmers' Market
and there was a nice variety of flowers involved.
Riley Andrew spent most of the day chewing
at it though so a few of them had to be taken out.

I was thinking about heart day.
Unless it's on a weekend, who has time for that.
To go out to dinner or do something really special.
I think it is really about small things.
The fact that I had bought a nice steak for him.
Salmon for myself, of course.
A nice fire for Meredith and Big Al to enjoy.
No, they aren't sweethearts at all.
Laughing about someone who sang on AI last night.
Way too funny, some of them are.

I think that's what heart day is.
The moments in between the big ones.
Course what do I know,
I would never say that I was lucky in love.
Just an ordinary gal.

So, while I drink my coffee
and Meredith tries to find a bird
in the foggy world we live in,
I think about hearts and how they beat.

Hope you all have a fun weekend.
We plan on it.

And The Beat Goes On

What can I say.
I am just laughing.
Forgetting actually.
I am literally plugged in.
To a heart monitor that is.

Short story long.
Had heart trouble during my kidney surgery.
Now, feel well enough to go see someone about that.

Nice guy.
Friendly nurse.
Checked my heart.
Was having an episode in his office.
He leaves.
Nurse comes in and does an ekg.
He comes back.
Wants me to be on this heart monitor.
They call the testing area.
I get in right away.
That never happens unless the Dr. calls.

I am now taped and wired and plugged in.
For 48 hours.

I ask what normal was.
Sixty to eighty.
What was I ?
One Thirty .. 130 lying down.

I guess I need to get a speeding ticket.

Fun times over here in the woods.
I tell ya ... never dull, that's for sure.

They asked if I was ok.
Sure.
I didn't know I was having an episode.

It's actually funny.
Me having heart troubles.
Of course I do.
Why not.

Let's add this up.

Really bad back.
Two failing kidneys.
And, a racing heart.

I'm just going to enjoy what time I have left.

It does seem to be a wild August so far.

Stay Cool this weekend.

XO,

JC and The Purr and Fur Gang
There comes a time in your life when you walk away from all of the drama and the people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for those who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living.
