What Can I Say

What can I say.
I just got back from my kidney Dr. appointment.
Not the best news.
Not at all.

My left kidney was functioning at 17 % before
my fancy reconstructive surgery last February.
It is now at 11 %.
My Dr. takes them out at 10 to 5 %.

Thus, I am being scheduled for surgery on my right kidney.
It has two rather large stones.
Normally, they would sit there for life.
In a bad spot.

I am having  my right kidney prepared for one kidney ville.
Yes, the left, it will be leaving me sooner than I would like.

My right kidney may take two surgeries.
He told me he hopes only one.
During this surgery, he will be able to scan the left.
Wants to know what's going on.
He can't do anything to it without losing more function.

So, there you go.
One, two or three more kidney surgeries.

I think I took it well.
Wrote notes.
Got medications.
Smiled. Laughed.

Danced in the office before he came in.
Got a coffee before hand this time.

After I called Mr. Boatman to tell him the great news,
I went to Target.
Had to get yogurt for the girls dinner.
I give them some in their food.

I'm home now.
Wrote my kids a note.
My son was worried.
He's a nice kid. Really nice.

And, now as I write this the tears are starting.
I think it has gotten to me.
It's ok though cause the cats and dogs don't care.

Being brave is hard sometimes.

Just saying ...

Don't forget to dance.
Do it for me.

Foggy Friday

Ashton Rosevelt

~ ~ ~
It's been another Fall week in my woods.
Lots of fog in the mornings.
Even in the afternoons.
The leaves are everywhere.
Course being in my woods,
that's a given.

The colors are marvelous to enjoy.
I look out my back window
and that big tree
is just waiting to fly.

(by fly, I mean when
the leaves swirl around
in the air on the way
down to my yard)
All those leaves.
All those colors.
My yard really is amazing.

I was busy this week.
Doing  phone calls
and some appointments.

It was time to stop pretending
and be an adult. So, I was.

Got into my heart specialist.
I'm doing fine.
I go back in three months.
Love those ekg's.

I did dance while waiting
in my heart specialists office.

He was running late
and I'm not one for
just sitting on those chairs
and waiting. Nope, not me.

After that, I went to the imaging
department for a few rays.

My big test is next week.
Not a terrible one
but not an easy one either.
It's nuclear.
I'll say that much.

The week after that,
I get into my kidney Doctor.
I'll find out if I can keep
this lovely kidney of mine.

~ ~ ~

The purr and fur gang
have been enjoying
the warmth of a fire
or the heater vent.

It sure got cold here fast.
Been in the thirty's every day.
Warms up but still
I am not ready for this
cold stuff.

And, that is
about it for
my part of the woods.

Hope you have a fabulous
weekend and remember
to dance.

It's Odd

~ ~ ~
It's odd what you write on a blog.
It's like a diary.
I had one as a teen aged girl.
My dreams.
My hopes.
The cute one that I liked.
How I got my new cat.
Those things.

Now, as I am older,
I found the blogging world.
It brought back that feeling
of expression plus people
that read what I've said.

I don't have a lot who read.
What I've expressed.
Thus, I sometimes am thinking only of myself
when I write what I do.

Today is one of those days.

I am again fighting.
I am in trouble.
My kidney has decided to remind
me that I am in failure.
Oh I was pretending.
I like doing that.

So, this week after two weeks
of coughing and blowing of the nose
due to the nasty cold I got,
my kidney decides to act up.

I called and luckily I had one more
infection prescription left.
I've been taking it this week.
Saved me from having to call
my very busy kidney Dr.
He's so hard to get in to.

I have to schedule my big test.
The one that figures out how
much my left kidney functions.
I never did that after my big surgery.

My heart acted up and I did that surgery.
Then I took the rest of July and August
off to recover.
September was my enjoy month.

Now, it's October and it's back to reminding
me that I am indeed in kidney failure.
This morning was a big reminder.
I sit here looking up kidney failure.
The systems of sepsis.
Thinking can I get over this.
Is it just an infection.

I hope it is.
I want it to be.
I am alone in this fight.
This nasty surviving thing.
I don't want to do this.

I drink my coffee.
Cause I do that every morning.
I will then start to drink my gallons of water.
I will feel better.
I will.

This is not kidney failure.
This is not sepsis.
(I've had that before.)
I am just tired.
I will get better.
I have plans.
Mr. Boatman leaves for a whole week.
I am by myself for a week.
I have things to do.

I am talking to myself.
I feel better about this.
It is just an infection.
I'm a silly old lady.

Today Was The Day

~ ~ ~
I'm home.
Having coffee while petting Meredith Ann.
Riley is napping on his scratching post perch.
Better known as the best seat for bird tv.
Not much of that today.
Wet out.
Not raining now though.
Riley and I talked for a while
about where the birds go
when it rains.
Into the trees, we figured.

Today, I went to my favorite hospital.
Been there so much,
that I know just about every floor.
Things went well.
I no longer have attachments.
My fancy surgery and six weeks
of recovery are over.

I'm now waiting.
I will know this weekend
if all of this worked.
My Dr., the fancy surgeon,
told me that everything will
 be fine or not.
That I'll know if things go wrong.

I am walking without pain.
First time in six weeks.

I have a list a mile long
of what I want and need
to get done.

This being sick
is really not for me.
I want to do so many things.
Having kidney failure
is just so yesterday. lol

I am hopeful.
I always seem to be.

My next big test is in June.
I've done one of these before.
It's a fancy test to see
how your kidney functions.
Each time I sign up for one,
they ask if I've had a kidney transplant.
It's a test to see if your kidney
is failing and I have to explain
my story.

Yes, I know how to have fun
at the imaging area.

So, for this weekend,
I plan on pretending
that everything is grand.

My six weeks has earned
me the honorary degree
of old cat lady
who sits in the woods
and can walk without pain.

I know how to celebrate
this thing called life.

Oh, and I plan on dancing.

Yes, I do.

There comes a time in your life when you walk away from all of the drama and the people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for those who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living.
