Two Girls

Two young girls walking along the path of life.

One asks the other, "What are you listening to ?"
The musical one says, "Time Time Time. You know that song."
"Yeah. The one by that girl band."
"Anyway, it's been going on in my head all day."
"What's on the road today?"
"I don't really know."
"Dust looks like it to me."
"Maybe an apple tree."
"Who are you a poet?"
"Nope, just a goofball who can't sing."
"When I get home I'm going to look up those words."
"Yeah, sure you are."
"Now, let's get something to eat."
"Walk a mile in my flips why don't you ?"
"Seriously."

Behind them was a dust trail that lead past the apple tree.
A bird was sitting on the wire above it.
As it flew away you could hear them both singing
"Time Time Time"
And, that is what they had today.
Walking in their flip flops
down the road
singing a song.

(I do have to say that I am trying to write.
 I'm not good at it.
I'm just throwing out my thoughts.
Not good at all but this is what I was picturing in my head)

I always enjoy what you write, even if I don't always leave a comment. You're far better at it than many published so-called "authors."

Aren't we all just trying to write? None of us are perfect. This poem was very well written and included excellent imagery. I think you did a fabulous job!!

You wrote that? I was ready to read the rest of the story. Very intriguing. As a woman of , well, more than 5 decades of living, and most of the living has been done in flip-flops even in winter, I can relate, so I want to know the rest of the story, please?

I love the verses about walking down the road. Time, Time, Time. I don't know that song. I'll have to look it yp. I do know "Time is on my side," by the Stones.

you write beautifully.. keep writing... friendship is everything...yeah, girl power...

There comes a time in your life when you walk away from all of the drama and the people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for those who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living.
