The leaves are swirling
No one can walk to the beach
Without putting their arms up
To fly like a plane
That's what I do
Even at this age
Tonight the crackers come out
The wrappers so pretty and nice
Torn with wild excitement
Young boys and their dreams
The stands are just a bit down the road
We pass them all year
Only this week they are alive
The signs are telling me
Go here Go there
We bought too much
More than last year
I hope the wind dies down
We have plans to enjoy
The colors of the night
As they jump over the water
And into the sand
I will have a beer near by
A pony in my hair
The cats and dogs
Will be tucked away
Under a bed or a chair
Tonight will be a good memory
If only the darn wind will
Let us do our thing
So here's to the 4th
What I do is relax
Tomorrow my young man
Will clean up what he missed
I will thank the stars above
That the house and the trees
Survived one more time
And, the stand will be closed
Past by for almost a year
Til next time I stand
And select colors for my sky
