Sunshine in the Woods

Jasmine Marie helping me in the meowning

It's Thursday already.
How did that happen?
The days are cooler.
More enjoyable.
Been able to work a bit in the yard ... jungle .. during the day.
Been putting the bird feeders up before coffee.
Taking them down before sunset.
Seems to be making cats and humans happy.
No new bear sightings or noises.
I thought my owls had flown the woods.
Heard an evening Hoo Hoo.
Seems that they are still here.
Just not showing themselves to me like they were.

There are little things going on at my place in the woods.
Nothing too big.
Just enough to make an old lady worry a bit.
While I was watering the front yard yesterday,
I thought about how I can't really do anything about them.
I decided not to worry.
Not easy to do but I will try.

Thought of what I need to do for me in this life.
I've had so many years of taking care of my kids.
Mr. Boatman has always been busy with work or his things.
I need to think of what to do with my time.
The yard needs lots of work.
Been trying to do that.
Don't really have the money to pay someone else to do it.

My fingers and feet were giving me trouble.
Scared me just a bit.
Reminded me of a few years ago.
Today they are better.
I'm just going to take things easy.
Even if I don't get lots done.
It's better than not getting anything done ... right.

Cats & Dogs are doing ok.
The heat got to them but they napped through it.
Maddy Jean is limping and I don't know why.
Bella is having trouble hearing but her ears are clean.
Just getting old like me I guess.
And, that is the latest from this old cat lady who lives in the woods.

Love the idea of sunshine in the woods. And I really like that quote up by the header, too. Happy Thursday, JC.

So I was looking at my RSS feeds and came across Romping and Rolling in the Rockies (http://romp-roll-rockies.blogspot.com/) and thought of you - because she has bear encounters too - though by choice for the most part. I don't know if she would have any sort of advice on her blog - again, she has these encounters by choice. I tried to look at the posts with the label bear, and did find one mention a bear proof garbage can. You may want to check it out if you haven't seen it before - may not be helpful with the feeders, but then again it might. On Monday June 21 she mentions her bearproofing plan - maybe you could see if she had any ideas.

Take things easy there - don't worry about the garden too much - if it gets done it gets done, and if not then try again next year! I am glad it got a bit cooler there for you all - I think your heat headed this way because it is just yuck outside today.

Sounds like you have a plan....somedays I think back on all I did when I was young and raising the kids....I know I will never be able to do that again....but that's ok....getting old can be fun too!

There is always so much to do; nice to have beautiful Jasmine to help out!...Maybe you would enjoy taking up something like yoga=calming, good for your mind and body, a great way to start the day and you can order a dvd and learn at home!...Take care.

It is very humid again here, what I wouldn't give for a soft breeze through the woods :-)

I think all cats, dogs and mums should take things a little easy in this crazy heat. I have mounds of gardening to do but it will just have to wait for a little while...

Well at least you have good company there in the woods. We will be purring for Maddy Jean.

Jasmine Marie is really pretty! We hope that you don't overwork yourself! It has been hot here!

One of my old cats has lost her hearing completely. She has become very clingy I think because she feels vulnerable without her hearing.

In this heat, I garden outside very early and spend the days inside.

Hope you are having a great weekend!

I always figure that getting old is a heap better than the alternative. But it is kind of depressing that animals live such a short time!
Glad to hear the TV is working again!!

Sounds like us here - only the heat has not abated!

There comes a time in your life when you walk away from all of the drama and the people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for those who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living.
