It's Magpie Tales time
(try not to laugh)
oh, man what a night.
i thought it would never end.
as I looked in the mirror,
i saw what I had become.
dark and sad wrinkles looked back
who the heck is that ?
when did you become me ?
the red tones of the lip still remains.
corners running like water down a broken pipe.
no real smears just leaks running wild.
the youthful promise of years ago
is now a reminder of times lost.
as I put the items away from my pockets
i noticed how bright the one item had become
always hoping for the best
looking for the time of our lives
maybe now I should be a honey gloss gal
my bright days might be gone
although not forgiven

The outside doesn't matter, the inside is the purrfect part!
We all have the moments. Enjoy the rest of your weekend!
My mom, who is 69 now, is very fond of saying, "Our bodies betray us" as we age. I think that's a rather dim view of aging, though of course I have my own issues with deepening crows feet. LOL. I think less identification with the transient form and more identification with spirit and heart is better! :-)
You are as young as you feel; everyone sees the worst of themselves, especially women and aging=we see every little line and gray hair!!...You are beautiful, vibrant, healthy...it's a great Sunday!...Kisses to Riley.
This is really neat, JC. Here is my Magpie Tales entry
The new you is so full of life experiences and wisdom!
I totally understand where this comes from....41 in the mirror is completely different at 21 in the mirror....but I think I will always be the "old lady with too much lipstick, deep wine colored lipstick, that you can smell before you see." I love perfume an believe in layering it....at least 15 times before I walk out. I think I will be one of those crazy old ladies. :)
Beautiful -- even like a fading Rose -- the perfume of the Rose still lingers.

I don't do red lipstick anymore either ;)
Try to remember that what really counts is your personality! Mom is going through something similar soon to be 56.
The nice thing about getting older is that it isnt getting older it is slowly letting go of old makeup that's been sitting around for years! Probably makeup that's older than a lot of you in this bloggy room! Remember; You're not getting older; you're getting better! (ya, right...)remember; wisdom comes with age and less need to buy lipstick? Save money this way! Although honey potted lip gloss does get expensive*(considering the time it takes to put the gloss on the pinky and then on to the lips or gums. yes the dentures love the gloss!
Bravo, well done.
We are the face we put on no matter the years: we are only today! ;)

"Gone but not forgiven." Terrific!
I know how you feel!!!
Thank you so much for visiting me the other day and leaving a caring comment concerning my daughter's migraines...sorry it has taken me so long to thank you. We are off to see the Dr. today...with lots of questions. Hugs for a wonderful new week. xo
as we age, our beauty changes...it is still there is we look close enough and appreciate all that has come in our days. great magpie!
There is always that youthful child within us, age is a matter of mind, not wrinkles! Love your Magpie, well done.
Inside every aging person is the person they see themselves as. Younger people who are still close in age to that inner person don't yet know the small shock of looking in the mirror and seeing someone much older. Even worse is seeing that older person in the eyes of someone else. The inner self is crying out, "Wait! I'm here! I'm still me!"
Good job listening to her.
Clever take on the image prompt - the final line is wonderful -
A wise view of growing older. I have consigned my dark coloured lipsticks to the bin now. I don't like the way that they bleed.........hmmmm
I enjoyed your poem very much.
Blessings, Star
Sad to read how the dark lipstick was no longer as flattering as it had been in times past, but no matter... pale colours do well too! LOL
Christine
Corners running like water down a broken pipe is a fantastic image!
inner beauty lasts,
inspirational writing!
aging is sad, but staying young and ignorant is not wise too,
accept what life has to offer,
make a difference in lives of people.
Happy Tuesday!
I enjoy your post!

mine is the first try!
Well done! I feel this way quite often...it's nice to know I'm not the only one.
It is a shock to look in the mirror and suddenly wonder where the girl you were went.
