Wednesday In The Wild Woods

Cute Cat On The Kitchen Counter

I am in the midst of a total kitchen remodel.
That means that everything that was on the counters,
cats included, are now on the dining room table.
(it's the room next to the kitchen)

The dishwasher, stove and fan arrived yesterday.
The kitchen counter was templated too.
We picked out
 our granite on the weekend.
We've been looking for months.
Online and at stores.
We'd pick a color and see it in person
and it would be totally different.
We got in home quotes.
Way too much.
(don't do a Sears quote .. just saying
or do so you can see what I mean)

This time, we found the one.
(I hope)
It's white based with grey ..
almost black .. with a bit of gold.
Should look nice.

We couldn't decide on a back splash.
I had no idea that was going to be so hard.
Decided to see the counter in
and then get some samples
and put them up against the wall.
Meaning that my kitchen will be a mess
for a while longer.

The floors will be done after the big stuff is done.
I'll do the cabinets after that.
Not totally new but refinished.
I got quotes for that too.
You wouldn't believe what they want to charge.
So, Mr. Boatman is going to do it in his spare time.
Meaning, the kitchen will be a mess
for a while longer.

Cats hid yesterday when the guy
was measuring and creating
the template for the counters.

I think we've worn them out
with all this in and out
and noise.

There's nothing like the "fun" of a renovation.

I watch a lot of HGTV and can't imagine having to choose flooring, back splash tiles, etc. It would be difficult. There's such a thing as too much choice. Mind you, my tiny 7ft x 7ft 9in "kitchen" really does need an overhaul. But there's not much that one can do with such a small space--maybe that's a good thing. LOL.

Best of luck that it goes as smoothly and as quickly as possible. In-budget would be great too. :-D

We always hide when the noisy humans show up too! Good luck with all that fun!

Exciting! And messy! But you'll be so happy when it's done, I know I would. In the meantime, I just pretend I like the vintage look I have, lol. It matches me!

Anyone needing a "vacation" from all the noise going on in that kitchen are more than welcome to come and stay here with us.

Oh renovation. That is a horrible thing for us fur children. xxoox

There comes a time in your life when you walk away from all of the drama and the people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for those who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living.
