Seriously

Today I went to my new primary care physician.
Seemed like a nice person.
Only what do they do ?
Seriously.
I asked if the over the counter medications
I've been taking were fine to take considering
my other health issues.
Meaning, did I need to take an actual prescribed one.
Nope.
Only thing she said was that I should switch to Tylenol
instead of Aleve or Advil.
That I was taking a lot and that would be bad for my kidney.
That's it.
Oh, and did I want a flu shot.

And, how much will that cost ?

I pay extra to have the kind of insurance
where I don't need a referral from a
primary care physician.

Only some specialist still require it.

At least I am an established patient now.

What can I say ...

Living in Canada as I do, I don't even want to guess what that little visit cost.

That was it? A new doctor and that was it?

I'd want more bang for my buck, frankly.

I'm waiting to see how much my husbands total knee replacement costs. Still no bills. I imagine it should be a doozy.

Thank goodness for the National Health Service in the UK, as a Type II diabetic I dread to think of the cost of all the medical attention and medication I now get for free.
(If I wanted the flu shot, that would be free too.)Normal NHS prescription fees are around £7.50 per item.
I really wish it was the same for you JC.
Hope you are feeling better.
Lots of love

Yep, it sure is something. My Dad got a Whopper of a bill and almost had a Big Mac attack!

Well golly, at least you're now an established patient. Doesn't this kind of make you wish you'd taken the time the appointment took away from your life and spent it at a really cozy coffee shop reading a great book ? A coffee shop with a great view and yummy snacks ?

I find that seeing my PCP is a waste of time. Last year she blew off my concern that I needed an electric w/c even though I told her I was just one relapse away from needing one, and this year I had that relapse, so she sent me to an OT appointment and now I am still waiting for a "wheelchair assessment." I swear that what I NEED is a home visit, but I can't seem to convince anyone to give me one. I am not very happy with our medical system.

I hope you fare better than me. Well, at least the new building where my PCP is has a coffee shop in its lobby.

Take good care. I wish you well and think of you often.

OMC, she sounds like my mom's former g.p. She supposedly retired from medicine, but maybe she just moved!

The entire Health system is very scary to me..Cold, impersonal and nobody knows you any more..You see someone routinely and then when you go to the hospital, that person doesn't take care of you..If you have medicare ( I don't know how old you are) It should all be covered..

I am always thinking of you. My family is about to go thru a trial by fire too.

There comes a time in your life when you walk away from all of the drama and the people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for those who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living.
