~ ~ ~
I just got done sitting on the deck
in my back yard
watching my two dogs play.
My woods are a wonder.
How I found this place
and that I am still here.
(it took me two years of looking)
Meredith Ann was at the door in a minute.
As if she could smell the fresh air.
So, it was the four of us.
Me, with my glass of wine in hand.
Mere, chewing green grass.
The girls, playing tug of war with an old hedge hog.
(toy not the real kind)
The weather has been so nice.
Warm in fact.
I sat out and looked at the birds
and clouds fly by.
Enjoyed the Spring that has arrived.
My life is a puzzle.
I sometimes don't even know how
to put the pieces together.
This afternoon and evening
were what I live for.
Just taking it all in.
I thought, if today was my last,
I'd have had a grand one.
I think of those things, lately.
It's what kidney failure does to you.
Makes you think.
The evening, sitting, enjoying
the things I love
was just what this old lady
needed, oh so much.
I said a few things to the universe.
Did it hear me ?
Who knows.
Not me.
I'm just walking slowly
along my path.
Throwing a few rocks
into the unknown.
This evening was just me,
sitting on a log,
watching the river flow.
Then onward on the path I went.
Enjoy,
~ JC ~

Wouldn't it be a wonderful world if we could all think that, every day?
My latest post should put a smile on your face...
That was a beautiful post. I think the best we can do is practice Present Moment awareness, and it seems as though you were in the moment. :-)
What's real, what's true, if there's any meaning to it all...None of us knows, though many have beliefs they interpret as Truth.
I love that Zen quote: Before Enlightenment, chop wood, carry water. After Enlightenment, chop wood carry water. I think of that often, in my unenlightened state.
What a nice post... I had a near life experience a year and a half ago and while I like to think I lived each day to the fullest before, I did not. But now... well, I think I am closer. I often have moments like you described. Content that this could be the end and I am often moved to tears at how lucky I am that it is not.
Sounds to me like you had a mighty fine wine time!
My kind of evening...a glass of wine or cup of coffee, enjoying the sound of birds, of frogs in our pond, watching my ducks and chickens and coming inside for a snuggle with my cats and my husband ( not necessarily in that order ). Life is simple really, and enjoying the simple gifts God has bestowed upon us with thanksgiving is in itself precious.
This is a revealing post, and a heart-warming post. I hope you're doing well.
It is so good to be aware of the good moments, especially when we are in the middle of them!
It IS a beautiful post just as Fuzzy Tales has already written. As a matter of fact, this post especially "spoke" to me. And all of the comments were little gems to accentuate your own post.
.. love your poem.. life is a puzzle, certainly... we don't get it, either. we have been out of the circuit (Mums fault) but delighted to have the chance to visit again. Love Mr Darcy, Mr Bingley and Helen xxx
A lovely post; a simple day enjoying the moment, surrounded by your babies, wine in hand sounds like a wonderful way to live...I will keep you in my prayers, JC, and wish you only the best...hugs...J
You are in the right place for this connection with yourself and the Universe! Can't think of a better place than being in the moment with your fur buds in the woods sharing this special moment. There is a quote that is perfect for this post
"The true joy of life is not in the grand gesture but in the consecration of the moment"
love & light Anna
