What To Do

~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~  ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~
As I sit here, having my coffee, I am at peace.
Was thinking yesterday about my year.
Last April, I bent over to feed my Siamese cat.
My back went out and my year started.
Within this year, I've had one steroid back procedure done.
Had to go to physical therapy twice due to not being able to
walk without my darn nerve pain screaming at me.
Sat a lot this year.
Had two kidney surgeries.
Which both are followed by six weeks of a nasty stent.
Which means more sitting due to the pain.
Now, I am waiting.
I have a major test in June.
This will let me know if I can keep my kidney.
I've had one of these tests .. last year.
The one where I said, Who took my left kidney.
This is the kind of test where I get asked if
I've had a kidney transplant.
It's that kind of test. Nuclear too.

So, I have a few months off this train.
What to do with my time.
It's odd really.
The last six weeks I just lived day to day.
Thinking if I could just make it to the end.
Now, that I'm on week seven, I'm almost there.
I feel better.
Things seems to be working.
No major infections so far.
On two meds just in case.

Scary really.
Don't want to think to much about it.
The what if's and the what happened.

My contest as to how many scars I can have
is going well.
I win.
My robotic surgery left me with six of them.
My days of a bikini .. yes, I did wear one .. are so over.
I stopped that in my early 30's after my son and gallstone surgery.

Anyway, it's been a hell of a year.
I survived it though.

For what .. that will be the adventure.

Wear what you want! You have survived, and the scars are badges of honour!! You can't keep a good woman down!!!

You sure have survived! Here's to getting all the way through it.

I've had that back procedure. And weeks of well-intentioned but damaging physical therapy before it. And the dimness of my former GP who didn't get it for months before finally referring me to a spinal doctor. There were days I couldn't get dressed, let alone walk, so I understand. Your conquering that alone is worth a medal in my book.

I have never gone through so much physical pain and surgery as you so I cannot know your pain, but I do know an attitude of joy in the every day blessings (which I see clearly in you from your posts), and looking forward to life AFTER pain and bad things leads to a life that is better, a life that is healing.

I hope even now you are feeling better and looking forward to the future. I hope you are healing quickly, and that your family and fur family are even more a blessing and encouragement to you.

Boy do I know where you are coming from. This past year saw me getting older with more health problems. But I say the hell with it all just live in the moment. We are tough old gals. smile

There comes a time in your life when you walk away from all of the drama and the people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for those who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living.
