Rolling Away

The wind was blowing.
The trees were swaying as if they knew the joke.
The end of Summer has arrived.
 Colder mornings have appeared.
Like it was expected.

I think it's too early.
I sit on the bench watching my dogs play.
My broom waits for me.

 All I do is sweep.
Life keeps throwing things in my way.
I wait as long as I can.
Trying not to trip
over the piles.
Today,
it is the green and yellows
that have my attention.
While my dogs play,
I get that broom.
No more multi colors on my deck.

The wind blows.
 The trees sway.
The Summer it ends.

Oh what the heck.
I think I'll join.
Down I go.
 Rolling away.
Get me now.
 I want to play.

~ JC ~
(I remember raking the leaves in my yard as a child. Getting that pile and the wind would blow. Sometimes I'd laugh and sometimes I'd roll down the hill and join them. )

Love that photo! I never had a hill to roll down (well, there was a hill, but it was a LONG way down, and there was a river at the bottom) with the leaves. I still like walking through the piles that build up beside the path or road, listening to the crinkly swishing sound of the leaves under and around my feet!

What a lovely post; I love the imagery of you raking leaves as a child with the laughter and fun included in your chores...Hope you have a great weekend=hugs to you, kisses to your beautiful babies and especially wishing Bella the best.

Greetings,

We can sympathize with your plight since we are facing the same here. Once dad has raked the lawn and swept the deck, he can start all over as everything is covered.

Many years ago I used to play in a pile of leaves, but now I'm too old.

Wishing you a wonderful weekend,
Miss Kitty and Egmont (dad)

Oh, I remember rolling in the leaves - lots more fun than sweeping and raking! Fun read, to be sure!

Invite you to try the prompts at Writer's Island...

There comes a time in your life when you walk away from all of the drama and the people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for those who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living.
