The rain fell from the clouds. It made puddles from the sky. Always leaving it's moisture lingering. The hope of the grey going away was never gone. Just hidden behind the weary dreams of warmer days. The grass grew taller. The mowers put away in their sheds. No one ventured out into the wet world.
This went on for over four weeks. People were moody. Nothing went right. The walks in the showers weren't fun anymore. When would the real weather appear. Was it really Summer ?
Like the Gods of Warmth heard our hearts, it arrived one morning. The dull white clouds were gone. The color was blue. The air was fresh. The evenings were now spent mowing the lawn. The days were too hot to go outside. The local stores were out of fans and sunglasses. Flip flops were heard on every aisle.
At the end of a warm day, the colors in the yard needed their cool reward. I walk down my driveway, leaving it for them. They smile at me with thanks. The Summer was late and very hot.
It was all worth it for those moments.

That was very nice! Our summer was early and it sure is hot!
You must live around where I live. Our summer was late, as well.
We like the rain, but we like the sunshine too!
Yes, our Meowm feeds the bad boy orange kitty....and whoever else comes to nibble on what he doesn't eat.
Sounds like to beautiful Pacific Northwest and it's delayed summer!
Nicely done! I hear flip flops everywhere these days!

our summer has been blistering and the grass would welcome a drink from teh clouds or a watering can...nice magpie!
that was a lovely way to describe the break in the clouds and the weather.
and our summer was early. We had 80 degree weather in March. Hard for me to work up much enthusiasm for summer weather. I'm completely burned out and almost burned up.

I so love summer. Your words sing the true song of this one. Rainy spring went on and on and on. Yes, it did. Wonderfully written.

I'm so ready for the Gods of Coolness.
It has been a late summer! I'm so glad the sun came out today. Maybe it will stay long enough to ripen my tomatoes...
