Honest Scrap Award

Just got this award from Kritter Keeper at Farm Tails .
Thank you for thinking of me!

Here are the rules:

First, you have to tell your readers 10 things about you they may not already know, but are true.
Second, you have to tag 10 people with the award.
Third, you have to let the people you've given the award to, know that they've received this award from you.

Finally, make sure you link back to the person who awarded you.

Ten Things About Myself

1 ~ I went to Catholic school most of my life. Yes, I'm one of those wild girls.

2 ~ I had a pet duck named Sally. Sally was a boy.

3 ~ I thought everyone had short French Grandma's. (Mom was adopted and I'm tall)

4 ~ I grew up camping. I still like to go once a year. Tent.

5 ~ I'm a paying member of DAR. (Dodge of Kansas were in the Revolutionary War)

6 ~ I'm a not paying member of Delta Delta Delta. (They don't kick you out if you don't pay)

7 ~ My first dog was named ... Cinders George Popeye Carpenter ... yes, I helped name him.

8 ~ I'm very shy...still am. That's what the wine at the party is for ... right ?

9 ~ My middle name is Ann. My sister got to name me ... after Annette Funicello. I bet you don't have that story do you ?

10 ~ I worked at Yellowstone National Park one Summer.

Ok, now for picking 10 bloggy buddies who might like this award.
This is where the trouble comes in ... ten, big number. I'll do five.
I would love to know more about these five. If they have time to let me and others know about them ... that's great. If not, than ... maybe a hint or two ...

1 ~ Tatiana at My Secret Gardern
2 ~ Susan at Stony River Farms
3 ~ Andrea at Not Rocket Science
4 ~ Noll at Nolls Nip
5 ~Laura at Amongst The Oaks

Hi JC,
Thanks for the award. I'll have some fun with it.
I too am sort of shy, like to camp, wear sunglasses all the time, and had a short French grandma. But unfortunately I hardly knew her.

I love your answers--what a hard act to follow! The boy-duck named Sally and the French Grandma are my favourites; I'm eligible for DAR but haven't finished my application yet (hoping someone else in our family will do it first and save me some legwork LOL), and AGREED about the wine at parties! Your very lucky in your sister; "Annette Funicello" could have become something much more unfortunate than short-but-sweet "Ann" LOL.

Right--this weekend then, I'll do my best. And, thanks!

Thanks for dropping by! I liked your profile summary - how did you end up in a coma, if you don't mind me asking? If you ever need any book recommendations - I love books so I have a fair few! xxx

Someone else with a French Grandma ... I knew I'd find someone if I kept asking !!

DAR ~ my sister did all the digging on the family tree. We have 3 or 4 that she's done. It's not easy to find all the records. I just went to the luncheons and volunteered to be the 'Welcome and take their lunch $$' ... that was before I moved to this house.

Oh and my sister wanted to name me Janet Annette ... Mom stopped at Ann. Thank You Very Much ...

Curious Cat ~ Since you asked, I thought I had the flu but I had gone into sepsis. My d found me in a semi coma state and I went to the er. Was not expected to make it thru the night. I did ... was in a coma for 9 days. Relearned to walk and talk. I have a bit of damage but not enough to stop me from feeding the cats and dogs ... LOL

And, when I'm done with my current books, I will ask you ...

Hi JC! I always knew that there was a whole world behind each person we met, in reality or on the web. A book can be written about each of us. A book about you could be a bestseller. Thank you for the award, I am truly honored! I'll post my answers soon.

Hi JC, just saw your comment at Tatyana's post and you mentioned going to Kalaloch every summer. I was raised around there and spent much of my time at my Grandparents (Grandma NOT French lol) on the Clearwater.
Will be snooping around your blog. Always nice to meet someone who has even heard of anywhere up that way although Kalaloch is more than discovered now!!!

Tatiana ~ If I would only get my old rear in gear and write that book I've always said I would write ... need to pay for that cat food don't ya know ..

RainGarderner ~ I grew up there. My Mom was a teacher. Dad would drop us off and show up on the weekend. There's a log there with my name on it. I don't get up there too much now but I try too. Loop A ... and I think F ... the one where some of it has fallen off the cliff. I remember it and watching people catch smelt ... can't read about it ... have to have lived it ...

Unknown said...

Where did your Mom teach JC? I don't recognize Loop A or F. We'd go to Ruby Beach and some of the trails had names. I remember going with Dad to dip smelt. I can't stand the river smelt they get here - they're too mushy where the ocean smelt are firm. Dad went and dipped some a couple of years ago and they were just how I remembered them! Great memories!

When ya go over the bridge to the small island you speak of . . . I love 'Tara' what I call the big house out there.

JC said...

In the Kalaloch campground ... loop A and Loop F .. they are on the cliff.

We would go down a path ... a ways away from the campground ... don't know the name ... walk down to the water and they would be catching smelt in nets ..

Do you mean Kaloloch Lodge ?

Mom taught in the Tacoma School District ...

JC said...

Two years ago, we stayed at the oceanside Resort in La Push. Right on the Ocean ... near First Beach.

I would go hike / camping with my H ... when I was younger ... he did it a lot when he was young. He lived closer than I did.

I like your ten things. Now I have to check out your blog winners.

I see - A and F at the campground. Too bad they're losing some of it - it's such a pretty campground - always packed.
I didn't understand the 'Do you mean Kaloloch Lodge?' question. Was it in response to my 'Tara big house' remark? I was referring to your Why? post March 29 and you being a 'novice water owner' when I realized where you live.

JC said...

Oh, yes ... we have a place on near Steamboat Island. And, it's a bit bigger than I wanted but ...

Congrats on the award.

I had a pet duck when I was VERY little. I named it Duck-a-duck. And we share a couple of other similarities, like the camping and middle names.

I enjoyed these fun facts about you and I've honestly never met anyone named after Annette Funicello!
(p.s. Isn't When Things Fall Apart a marvelous book? I see it's on your nightstand right now...)

This is a very cool award, don't you think?! What enjoyable facts about you! We realised that mom didn't thank YOU in her big "we received these awards" post the other day. Please accept our apologies. Humans are less than perfect.

I always like reading these meme's about people.
Roses are such a beautiful delicate colour.

There comes a time in your life when you walk away from all of the drama and the people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for those who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living.
