I heard my favorite song on the car radio this morning. Not from the middle or end but from the first word. I absolutely love that song. It was the Summer between 7th and 8th grade, when I looked in a Reader's Digest. I found these words written. I thought it was a poem. Later when I heard it on the radio, I knew that it was 'My Song'. It has been now for almost 40 years. I thought I'd put it here for you to enjoy !!!
Your Song
by Elton John
It's a little bit funny this feeling inside
I'm not one of those who can easily hide
I don't have much money but boy if I did
I'd buy a big house where we both could live
If I was a sculptor, but then again, no
Or a man who makes potions in a travelling show
I know it's not much but it's the best I can do
My gift is my song and this one's for you
And you can tell everybody this is your song
It may be quite simple but now that it's done
I hope you don't mind
I hope you don't mind that I put down in words
How wonderful life is while you're in the world
I sat on the roof and kicked off the moss
Well a few of the verses well they've got me quite cross
But the sun's been quite kind while I wrote this song
It's for people like you that keep it turned on
So excuse me forgetting but these things I do
You see I've forgotten if they're green or they're blue
Anyway the thing is what I really mean
Yours are the sweetest eyes I've ever seen

Some of my favorite songs are Elton's earlier works, including this song.
Elton John is pawsome!!!
He does write some lovely songs, doesn't he. It's amazing how songs can unlock emotions inside us. Bob Dylan does it for me and of late, David Gray and Damien Rice.
Blessings, Star
A dark beer? Really? Haha, that's great. I'll take that treatment any day. I love a good bitter.
I find coke or dr. pepper helps, or dark coffee. It's the caffeine.
I love that song too by the way. I love Elton.
Oh our mom is a big Elton fan!!! Great song!
Oh my, that is my favorite song of all time. I still gets to me when I hear it. We must be about the same age. I remember wearing that album thin!
I love that song!! I heard today too on my way back from having lunch/dinner with my friend. I couldn't help but turn the volume up and sing along as I drove back home. I especially love the version that Ewan McGregor sings in Moulin Rouge.
I have always said that I will sing this song as a lullaby to my first child.
I love this one too. I have a few CD's of his earlier work, this among them. Music is such a gift, brings back memories, feelings, sounds, senses. It can take you right back to a happy spot you were in when listening to it.
I love that song too and know everyword. I guess I'm showing my age, aren't I?
