A Simple Thing

~ ~ ~
It's the simple things in life, really.
This week, the last few days,
I've been doing what most call normal things.
Walking to get the garbage and recycle cans.
Just the driveway, not too long but not short.
I looked at our bulbs that are coming up.
The roses and azaleas are waiting to bloom.
I turned the bend and there were the lavenders.
Waving to me, like an old friend.
At the end of the driveway, were the containers.
Still having the remains of the Summer flowers.
(I never made it out to turn over their soil.)
A simple thing. Really.
Just a short walk and back.
Pulling those two cans.
One big and one smaller.
Getting the car out of the garage.
Putting both cans in their
 predetermined location
in the chaos that is the garage.
Back inside to my two pups faces.
They don't care how long it took me,
they still greet me with the thrill
of a long lost friend.
And, I can mark that off my list.
I had two things to do today.
Get the garbage cans in and get the mail.
I'd done the mail a bit earlier when
I had driven down the driveway and
did the turn around at the next corner
thing and drove by the mail boxes.
Out I went.
Back into the car.
Drive down the street and into
my sort of long driveway.
I came in here to my den,
found my orange paper,
yes, it's orange cause who
wants to print anything on that
color, oh I know, my kids
who are no longer here.
Anyway, that orange paper
is now my 'to do' list paper.
And, it has two things marked off.
It's been a good day.
This getting better and walking without pain
is the best feeling ever.
How long will this last, who knows,
but for today, it feels good.

Meredith Ann is such a beautiful cat!!! And so helpful! Sometimes I wonder how people manage without a cat to help with the chores...
Glad to hear you are getting better, and stronger!!!
I think today is the day I am going to open the big suitcase with all my treasures that I have brought back from my Mom's. I will post photos...

There comes a time in your life when you walk away from all of the drama and the people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for those who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living.
