A Nail Of A Time

A few Summers ago, a shed was built.
Plywood and cedar shakes arrived.
A huge pile was carried through the gate.
The area near the fence in the back trees was cleared.
A path was dug. Cement posts were put in.
The first wood was cut loose.
The hammer came out from the red tool bin.
The holler was heard.
"Where are those teenagers of mine"
Out they came.
No smiles.
As I brought this and that
 to them as needed
I heard a laugh.
Before the day was over,
I'd taken several photos
of the three of them having fun
 while they built that shed.
It now stands in the backyard.
Looking old with moss.
The memories of that Summer
nailed together forever.

Interesting and poignant story. It is sad how children grow up. And how time flies!

Sweet reminiscence. Nothing like shared work to bond people together.

Beautiful. Ah, those teen years. I used to be such a brat and gave my parents such grief. I don't remember what point I had been trying to make.

I enjoyed this story - remembering my own reluctance to help & how my dad would always make me laugh...

What a nice memory! I love that you have written it down, because now it is ours, too.

Thank you for visiting my blog, and for your kind comments. If you should ever travel down this way, let me know. Perhaps you could stop by and see my Gracie, who looks so much like your long lost cat.

thanks for insight through reminiscence - lovely. Helen, Darcy and Bing

There comes a time in your life when you walk away from all of the drama and the people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for those who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living.
