The Cracking Of Trees

Jasmine Marie helping me type

My whole life I've been afraid.
Of the dark, of the unknown, of life in general.
This has made me become who I am.
Always being quieter than others.
At least at first.
Looking within to see the what & how of doing.

When I was young, I would go for walks in the woods.
The sounds of birds and the cracking of trees made me feel real.
To this day, I still enjoy a slow walk.
Even if my old bones can't go far.
I try to get out and about for a few moments.

Looking always upward to the sky.
Be it cloudy or blue.
I'm there .. looking ... enjoying.

So, being afraid of the unknown has done me no wrong.
I like being me.
This quiet lady who enjoys birds.

And, even on those days when I can't take walks
I can imagine what it was like when I did.

You have written words that sum up my own life--the fear, the connection to Nature, the Earth.

Thank you for those beautiful words and for sharing of your Self.

P.S. Jasmine Marie, gorgeous cat lady that she is, is doing a fine job helping you type.

Jasmine is a beautiful girl - what lovely markings she has.
I do very much relate to your words - I too tend to be afraid of the unknown and prefer the familiar to new adventures, I'd hoped to grow more confident as I got older but I think the reverse has happened! But knowing who you are and accepting it is a good thing too. xx

Jasmine is so pretty. I guess we all harbor fears - how can we not? But enjoying a walk and the sky and the earth, well that's living in the moment, and that's all we really have.

Nice post.

Jasmine is adorable.

There comes a time in your life when you walk away from all of the drama and the people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for those who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living.
