Take Me Out To The Ball Game

"Take me out to the ball game, Take me out with the crowd. Buy me some peanuts and cracker jack, I don't care if I never get back, Let me root, root, root for the home team, If they don't win it's a shame. For it's one, two, three strikes, you're out, At the old ball game."

I went to a baseball game. I haven't done that in a while. We have a major league team but it's across the lake and over the bridge. Not something easy to do. It has to be a planned way in advance adventure. The cost is something isn't it !! I mean really .. the ticket .. if you want to see anything without your binoculars .. is out of this world. Add some food and a drink and you're in for a hundred or so.

I grew up walking to the local baseball stadium. It was a minor league team. I moved but still I could walk home from the park. It was small enough that I could get signatures from the players. I loved it.

Sometimes we'd go later and sit on the hill outside the park. I did that a lot too.

When I moved a couple of towns away, they put the freeway through that part of town. I no longer could ... if I wanted to ... walk to the park. It seemed longer too. Maybe when your a child on a warm Summer night, it doesn't seem as far but as an older child, ok, I'm an adult, it seems likes at least four miles.

It was fun going to this fancy baseball game. I even ate peanuts.

Do you go to games ? Do you think a beer shouldn't cost $8.75 ? The peanuts were a deal at $3.75.

I used to enjoy going to games until they started televising every game and they started taking waaay longer. They stand around a lot now waiting for the commercial to be over. And the cost is prohibitive now also.

I find baseball in person to be very peaceful. Nice photos.

I had a great time. We got up in the 7th and walked around. Got a coffee and went thru their museum. ( a small one ) They won 5 to 3. We left during the 8th and were home by the 9th.

It was a 1 pm game so we still got a few things done. ( Mr. Boatman is a very busy guy and I have to have a list for him on weekends )

I think I will go again ... this tickets were given to him .. so they were good and I'm sure they cost a bit .. I think I'd like to go once a year ... just for the fun of it.

That way I can save up for the beer.

I love your pictures at the ball game. We are planning on taking Lexi to a minor league game while we are on vacation next week. I haven't been to a ballgame in a while so I think it will be fun.

When I was young, I LOVED the Cleveland Indians (still root for them & hope they win the series before I die!). I was thrilled when my dad took me to a couple of games....but I haven't been to a ballgame in years. Last time was the Columbus Clippers (when it was the Yankee's farm team) over 15 years ago. Looks like you had a grand 'ole time ;)

One of the things we miss the most about living in Seattle is going to a Mariners game every year. We do have a baseball team here but have not managed to go to one game in the 3 years we have lived here.

Luckily I don't drink beer, so I don't gave to cringe at the prices! I do love baseball games - but only if I have decent seats. Maybe sometime this summer, if I'm lucky, I'll get to see the Tigers.

BTW: I need your Twitter and email address to converse about Lainy as they're not on your blog!

It's a shame that attending a game has gotten so expensive, especially as like you said - having a decent seat. So I watch my Mariners on TV mostly these days. Going to a game is a real treat and then only on a weekend. Weekday games are out because it is too late by the time I get home and then have to go to work the next day.

I glad you had a good time at the game. GO MARINERS!

The Mets have been my only team since 1962 when they started. My dad and I used to listen to the games on the radio and watch them on T.V. I've been to Shea Stadium many, many times. saw the Grucci fireworks there. Something's wrong with a corporate name on a baseball field. I haven't been back for a while, but I still love them, especially Jose Reyes & David Wright. They keep the fans coming when the games don't come out well. It will always be Shea to me.

Fun! I miss going to ball games. Our Expos are long gone and I live in the sticks of rural Quebec where hockey is the game of choice! Hope to catch some minor/junior league games next summer on PEI! Oof, I've had some of those $8.75 beers, lol! It's like holding a water pitcher!

I do enjoy baseball and have been to both the Mets and the Yankees new stadiums this summer. It does cost a small fortune, however, and that excludes a lot of children from being given the opportunity to go, which is sad.

We have a minor league team nearby, so I'm happy for that!

There comes a time in your life when you walk away from all of the drama and the people who create it. You surround yourself with people who make you laugh. Forget the bad and focus on the good. Love the people who treat you right and pray for those who don’t. Life is too short to be anything but happy. Falling down is part of life, getting back up is living.
